Home Away from Home

After months of waiting, and some advice from a friend that it would take ages, I finally got my housing assignment for Granada! I'll be in a home stay, which means that I will be living with a family in Granada. I chose this option because it would force me to speak Spanish more often, and because I like the idea of living with a family, and being part of a family.

So, I'll be staying with a woman and her family (husband and 3 kids between 14 and 21) in a 'very nice apartment near the city center". The grandmother lives upstairs, and they often eat lunch with her. I'm so excited! It's awesome to know, unlike last year, that I have a place to stay when I get to Granada.

Nineteen days!

Visa and a countdown

As of this post, there are 23 days until I ship out! I'm getting excited because it's so close, but I'm also a little nervous. I got my visa in the mail last week, and it's pretty legit. I've never had a visa before, so I guess it's exciting. I have yet to receive my housing assignment, though. I just want to know who I'm going to live with! Hopefully it's a family with a little kid. I love kids! And it would be nice to live with a little kid so I could play with it and hopefully relieve some of the stress of living in a foreign country.

This lovely thing is a countdown to when I leave! I realize it's a bit hard to see, but I don't know how to fix that without messing with my entire blog. So I guess I'll post the link at the off chance that you care enough to go check it out.
